After returning from California we spent a few days in La Paz provisioning for the trip to Punta Mita. As we had a hire car (cheaper to rent one than to get a taxi back from Cabo airport to La Paz) we wandered down to Todos Santos and Southwards to Pescadero. Plenty of delightful beaches and a really laid back surfing community. Lots of land for sale which we could not bypass having a look at – definitely a place that we could consider retiring to if not to Tasmania. Prices very tempting!!
We stayed at a pleasant little hotel, Los Olas de Cerritos, just a few minutes’ walk from the beach with everything clean and tidy. We also managed to make some good friends by visiting a local restaurant, chef and helpers from Mendicino, California. Our list of places we have to visit continues to grow!
With forecast light winds for the crossing to Banderas Bay, Punta Mita and Puerto Vallarta we left La Paz on the 23rd Jan, and as predicted we motored for most of the way, and light NM winds giving us several hours of sailing – a very comfortable and relaxing 3 day trip.
Australia Day saw us anchoring in our usual location at Punta Mita, a decent 1 metre swell was running so I enjoyed several surfs, the water and air very comfortable at around 25 Deg C. The boys were straight into action in the heavy shore breaks – Ben now very comfortable on his boogie board, while Huon not far behind.
We now have a few months here, somewhere along the line we will haul out at La Cruz shipyard to attend to (again) a leaking sail drive seal, plus the usual minor underwater repairs and antifouling. After that it is into Paradise Village as we prepare for the France sojourn in April.
