Heading South

The last weeks of September were spent arranging Ben’s birthday party, two other yachts were involved, LoLo with Peter, Rosanna, Teddy and Poppy along with Eyoni, Ethan, Nancy and Zada onboard.  It took a bit of organization as travel plan and weather all play a part.  At the end it was a beach BBQ at Ensanada Pescador, one of our favourite anchorages.  The weather continued to be balmy with water and air temperatures on the way down .

We continued in the party mode for several days heading just a few miles South to Bahia Las Animas and Punta Islotes , finally finishing at Animas Slot for some excellent diving and more beach BBQ’s.  After day’s motoring some 30 miles south to our old favourite of Cala Mujeres we realized that the summer was at an end and we were in for cooler sailing through winter.

A bouncy overnight sail (yes, finally some proper sailing) with a brisk 20 knot Westerly made for a quick trip to Santa Rosalia.  After the stifling heat earlier in the year, the dusty town has taken on a new feeling, even enjoyable.  The strong Northerlies made docking a bit tricky, finally we had to resort to help from the anchor.  The next weeks sailing is looking interesting as the wind looks set to continue for several days and a late cyclone down south heads towards Baja California, though a low possibility of jumping over the peninsula.
